The week we returned home from our two month sojourn in New Orleans I immediately got to work on the first in a series of Tarpestries which I plan to create about NOLA.

This piece “Eaux No!” is of the Storm (Katrina) as it tried to wash away the houses.

The house is covered with a pattern of winning scores for the game of Dominoes. Each of the scoring boxes is called a “house.”

The steps leading to the house are covered with the pattern of the veves which call on Papa Legba and his wife for protection.

This tarpestry shows New Orleans weathering the storm.
