This little cupboard was painted with details from Gee’s Bend Quilts. The front of the cupboard features two different quilts “Medallion” by Loretta Pettway, and “Milky Way” by Nettie Young. The side visible in the photo above is part of the quilt “Stripes” by Annie Mae Young.
The back of the cupboard was inspired by one of my favorite quilts. It’s untitled and only described as “bars and string-pieced columns” (that sounds like it should be humming!) by Jessie T. Pettway. The side of the cupboard has a detail from the quilt “Flying Geese” by Annie E. Pettway.
