My friend Rory commissioned me to paint a “wine casket” with Mexican motifs as a gift for her husband George. The box was meant to hold little mementos from their 2nd home in Baja California, Mexico.
I painted the interior to look like the colorful striped serapes you find in the Mexican markets.
Around the outside of the wine casket I painted “papel picado” banners like the kind you see strung over patios during celebrations.
I hope the wine casket is an affectionate reminder for Rory and “Jorge” of their wonderful times spent at Casa Paloma.
