Delight is in the Details

By My Artist Home

Our house is now officially on the market and there are photos which you can see everywhere including right here on our virtual tour.

There is also a flyer:

What we don’t have are the “detail” shots which I think make this house special, and which are of things I’ve done to our home which will stay when we sell it.

Things like all the rugs I’ve painted on the floors.

In our Living room/Dining room:

In the room we’ve used as a cosy dining room, but which could be a study or bedroom:

In the hall between the main floor bedrooms, (as well as the door to the front bedroom):

In my little studios upstairs (which could also be bedrooms):

I’ve also painted the door in the upstairs hall between the two studios:

As well as the door to the Butler’s Pantry:

And three hallway light fixtures:

The house was built in 1938 so it has tons of character, and wonderful details like coved ceilings in every room on the main floor as well as the arched setback for the kitchen range and refrigerator:

And the 29″ deep window ledge in front of the wall of windows in the downstairs living space:

This is a wonderful big hug of a house, and there is a lot of delight in it’s many unique details.

Spread the word! This house is looking for someone new to love!

Mi Casa Can Be Su Casa…

By My Artist Home

image

Lately I’ve had nothing but HOUSE on the brain because…well, we’re Just Doing It! Our wonderful artist’s home is now officially FOR SALE!

You can see photos and read all the important Real Estate Stuff if you Google MLS# 98588999. Or just click on that hot link I just gave you!

image

I’m a bundle of mixed emotions over the whole thing. I love this house so much and am sad to think of leaving it, but I’m super excited to think about finding our next great place here in Boise, AND another in New Orleans. Excited, and a little overwhelmed.

Meanwhile, the important thing for us to concentrate on is finding the perfect buyer for this 3,447 sq. ft. home with 6 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, 2 living room/dining rooms, 1 workroom (shop), 1 butler’s pantry, and 1 very large back yard with tons of potential for someone who actually gardens (cough, cough).

image

I like to describe our location as “Urbal” — Urban in the front, and Rural in the back. We’re 1/2 a block from shopping and the busline to downtown, yet you could easily have chickens and ducks, and a giant vegetable garden in the back.

Best of all, this area is becoming the International District and there are Vietnamese, Chinese, Italian, Mexican, African, Argentine, Thai, Bosnian, Korean, Middle Eastern, and Indian markets and restaurants just a couple of blocks away. Plus there’s the International Market on Curtis and Franklin — only two city blocks from our house. Pretty sweet!

image

So tell all your house-hunting friends — the best little artists’ house in Boise is looking for a new family! You can get a lot more information from our realtor Linda, who can be reached at her cell # (208)870-6077.

She’s really into HOUSES too!

Feeling Right

By New Orleans Sojourn

We’re still settling in to our Pied a Terre in beautiful Uptown New Orleans, but with each passing day we get closer to feeling like we’re “just home.” Mike’s had one day of working remotely and I’ve started to figure out my domestic routine — cooking, laundry, dog walking — all a bit different here.

I’m also making sure I fit in a little art now and then as I’m able.

image

Because Mike’s been sick since our arrival we haven’t gone out as much as we will once he’s all better, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t eaten in proper NOLA style. I’ve made us red beans and rice with hot sausage twice already. Mmm hmmm.

image

We did go out for lunch today though — at one of our favorite places — Casamento’s on Magazine and Napoleon.

image

We were both in the mood for “ersters.”

image

image

The Carol Robinson Gallery, where Mike has shown his work since 1988, is just up the street from Casamento’s. We stopped in to give Carol a hug and make plans to get together soon. It’s time to pick a date for Mike’s next show, and I’m hoping she’ll have some idea of where my Tarps might fit in here in New Orleans.

image

Carol is having her gallery’s 35th Anniversary exhibition, and Mike’s work is hung here and there, and tucked into nooks and crannies around the gallery…

image

image

There’s always something to celebrate in this town, and for us now it’s how right it feels to settle back into the NOLA way of life and how welcoming the city is of our doing just that.

Why, they even decorated just for us….

image

image

Mmm hmmm! Yeah, you right!

Just Did It, Yo!

By Domestic Arts 2.0

In the spirit of “just doing it” I have been a busy girl. Making pom poms. Hundreds of pom poms. And watching Netflix. Hundreds of hours of Netflix. It’s been serious business around here. Seriously. I can make 12 medium pom poms, and 20 small pom poms in one episode of Breaking Bad. That’s 1,080 small pom poms during the series. Yo Bitch!

image

I attached all those pom poms to my collection of second helping crocheted blankets and violá “POM POW An Exhibition” was born.

Pom Pow-500w

We have recently turned our living room into a gallery space in which we plan to have infrequent, exclusive, random exhibitions and events, and “POM POW An Exhibition” was our soft opening.

If you made it to the opening — Thank you for coming, it meant a lot to me!

If you couldn’t make it, I missed you, and here are the mug shots (plus titles and prices) of the bad boys you missed…

I told you I take this very seriously. Pom Pow bitch! Yo!

Yep. I’m Hooked.

By Domestic Arts 2.0

Yep. I’m hooked. Spoonflower, I think I love you.

Here are three of the designs I made yesterday with my new obsession. I’ll show you the image I used first, and then the fabric design next.

This is the print I made for the Wingtip Press Leftovers show:

image

And this is the fabric design using the image without altering the color. I’m calling this design “Shards.”

image

This is a grouping of the doggies I designed for this year’s “See Spot Walk” fundraiser for the Idaho Humane Society:

image

And this is the fabric design with the colors altered. This one is called “Hot Dogs!”

image

Finally, this is the ink drawing I did for the design for the block I carved for my portion of the collaborative block print “Confluence.”

image

And this is the fabric design with 24 colors — I told you I was obsessed! I’m calling it “Fire & Ice Indian Feather.”

image

What do you think? Seriously.

Am I just having too much fun, or do you think these would actually make fabric which you would buy? Let me know. You can let me know by emailing me in the “Contact Me” link in my sidebar.
